Happy 30th to me
Today’s my birthday 🙂 If you’re noticing a de-volution here at my site recently… well coming up on September, the month that never ends, must be screwin’ with my mind a bit. Maybe this calls for a visit to the 7 Deadly Sins, 7 Heavenly Virtues site.
Actually, I do have something deeply personal to post about faith within the next couple of days, as we come closer to the 15th.
Developing Enterprise Applications Using the J2EE Platform
Looks like a tutorial worth taking over at Sun.
Axl Rose speaks!
So goes the headline in this Karrang! interview. The best I’ve read so far. Axl opens up, and it’s a little sad if you ask me. Notice how the band goes thru real hard times songwriting after Izzy leaves.

A little too presumptious and heavy handed
That’s what Jon Bon Jovi said, on WMMR today, it would be if they attempted to write songs from the perspective of a widow. There *will* be music inspired by 9-11 on “Bounce”, their upcoming album. It’s more along the lines of dusting yourself off after taking a hit. Not an exact quote – but you get the idea.
I think you can get the feel by listening to “Everyday”, a new song from the album. It rocks. It’s an anthem.
Question for business startups
If you have an idea… one you really believe in, but it requires investment to start up, what is the next step?
The Anniversary: Snopes.com
Not just useful for 9-11, Snopes.com is your one-stop urban legends destroyer. I should have used it for the divorce hoax.
Check out Salon’s review: Osama bin Laden is alive and well and living in Utah.
Keep Up With Your Java Certifications
I don’t know whether I should take the test again to upgrade or not… anyone have any advice? Nevertheless, I’m going to practice against the new qualifications to make sure I’m not falling behind.
The Gone and Forgotten RSS Reader – Carmen’s Headline Viewer
Recently I reminiced about Carmen’s Headline Viewer. A really cool desktop RSS reader from back in the day (4-99 to 7-01!). Doesn’t work so well now that the spec has changed, and it’s no longer being updated. Booting it up, after so long, was rather surprising. For code that’s over a year old, it’s highly competitive. Update: Ben Hammersley remembers Headline Viewer in the Guardian. Thanks Shelley.
