amphetype is an open source, python built, typing program that helps improve speed and accuracy.

  1. Disagree, completely. Saying what makes a good programmer is how fast they type, is no different than saying what makes a good carpenter is how fast he swings the hammer.

  2. That’s pretty much the way I see it. Didn’t mean to imply that typing principally makes a good programmer. But it is an undeniable productivity boost.

    Kinda like practicing scales on a guitar to a metronome. It won’t determine whether you are good guitar player but it can help.
