amphetype is an open source, python built, typing program that helps improve speed and accuracy.

+1 to that. It’s one of the most understated “productivity boosters” there is for us developers.
Disagree, completely. Saying what makes a good programmer is how fast they type, is no different than saying what makes a good carpenter is how fast he swings the hammer.
Shelley, he didn’t say typing fast makes you a good programmer, he said is boosts productivity.

That’s pretty much the way I see it. Didn’t mean to imply that typing principally makes a good programmer. But it is an undeniable productivity boost.
Kinda like practicing scales on a guitar to a metronome. It won’t determine whether you are good guitar player but it can help.
