NYTimes: An S.U.V.? Oh, That’s So Over!

I test drove a Mazda Protege5 and loved it. Boy did they nail my demographic.
I almost wound up with one of these, but then I realized that for about the same price, I could get a *real* wagon (a 2002 Ford Taurus SE, in my case) and get way more cargo space. And the thing handles VERY well — it’s so nice having a more powerful engine than my old Ford Escort, and with a much smoother ride.
