I was on an airplane to Germany when this happened, I returned to the US after a 14-day business trip to a country that will never be the same. Our way of life has changed, I only hope that we could get some good out of this, maybe the end of terrorism. Maybe a more united world. One could only hope. I want to give my prayers to the firemen, police officers, families of the gone, the Army, and all the other workers that are working on trying to find survivors in the wreckage of the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. I want to thank all the world for their help and support to us Americans in our time of sorrow. This was something that most people would have thought would be the last thing to ever heppen in the USA, but as we can see, we were not thinking like the terrorists. I give my upmost respect to the people that put their lives on the line to help people get out of this horrific terrorist attack. As us firefighters have on some of our shirts "United We Stand" and is that ever true. If we people would not unite and stand together we would not have with held this terrorist attack on our native land.

Profoundly moving. Thank you to everyone involved in this site, from the site creators to the photographers to the people shown. The empathetic compassion communicated through this picture diary is an astounding revelation. The visual reminder of other countries' concern for our loss is a balm on a jagged wound to the heart. For those who feel we shouldn't fight back--ignoring an atrocity of this magnitude will not make it go away. Their forces will continue to become stronger and they will continue to terrorize all countries during our lifetime and those of our sons and daughters. We were suppose to see the Statue of Liberty this summmer while visiting NY. My three young boys missed this opportunity because of our hectic schedule. We plan to take another trip as soon as possible. This time we will not only see our lady with our eyes but also with our hearts. Our children have learned patriotism and sorrow at an age were only innocence usually prevails. Thank you for the pictures. I can not answer all my children's "why" questions, but they can now see, that they are not alone-as the world mourns with us all.

What a wonderful collection, your pictures sum up our 'darkest hour'. It gladens my heart, as it must others, to see the support and sympathy extended to the United States from around the world. We must stand united and strong to defeat this common enemy that is found throughout the civilized world. If it takes a week, a month, a year or more, this is something that we must all vow to see through to comlpletion. This has been a great comfort to me and my family, as we have lost a dear friend who I can say was almost like a mother to me in the attacks. I wish more people could see this site and know that we are all the same and feel the same no matter what language we speak or what religion we believe in.
