Over The Edge

Copyright Karl Martino 1994

This song is basically a ‘you gotta fight to survive’ song. It’s about living close to the edge and struggling to keep from falling over it. Some of it is autobiographical. Some is about other people. It’s an anthem.

About the recording – The downloads are from Laughing Mad’s demo CD. That’s my brother singing and me playing lead guitar. And yes… it’s a mess 🙂

Over the Edge Acoustic:

Your parents don’t
Understand
You’re a young man with trouble
On his hands

Failure seems near
And your friends they call

But the pills you took
Don’t help at all

So you quit school
For a two piece job
Workin’ for some
Conceited snob

You were thrown from home
At age fifteen

Chased away
By your daddy’s screams

Just when you climbed
Back on your ledge
Oh…
You’re over the edge
Hold on
One more night

Over the edge
Ya gotta stand up and fight
Over the edge
Ya gotta keep the faith
Over the edge
It’s never too late

Never… too late.

Out on the streets

Ya gotta fight to live
Cause this world takes
More then it gives

Nights flew by
Sleepin’ on the train
No one to help
To ease the pain

Now you’re jonesin’

For a hit
Cause your sorrows
Havn’t left you yet

Gotta hold on
One more night
Gotta stand up
Stand up and fight

Just when you climbed

Back on your ledge
Oh…
You’re over the edge
Hold on
One more night
Over the edge
Ya gotta stand up and fight
Over the edge
Ya gotta keep the faith

Over the edge
It’s never too late

(Solo)

You’re over the edge
Hold on
One more night
Over the edge
Ya gotta stand up and fight

Over the edge
Ya gotta keep the faith
Over the edge
It’s never too late

Hold on
One more night
Over the edge
Ya gotta stand up and fight

Over the edge
Ya gotta keep the faith
Over the edge
It’s never too late

Hold on
One more day
Over the edge
You’ll make it someway

Over the edge
Right here right now
Over the edge
You’ll make it somehow
